Loving my leftovers once again.
But I’d suggest that if you’re a Ragù purist or a chilli con carne aficionado, look away now.
This does work though, you’ll have to trust me. Or just try it.
I’ve used night’s leftover bolognaise sauce to up-cycle into today’s lunchtime chilli bowls.
As the bolognaise already has tender meat, sweet tomatoes, a rich sauce full of flavour from onions, herbs, garlic. So, by cooking off some spices – I’ve used cumin, cinnamon, paprika, chilli – with a dash of BBQ sauce for smoky sweetness and a tin of mixed beans, then adding in the bolognaise sauce to reheat thoroughly, you can create a chilli-style bowl.
I’ve simply topped with tonnes of grated cheese. A nice piece of crusty bread wouldn’t go amiss.
